"Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall" is Lifetime's newest original movie

Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall is Lifetime's newest original movie based on the true story of Youree Dell Harris, better known by her stage name, Miss Cleo, during the height of the pop culture infomercial craze in the late 1990s premiering on Saturday, August 10.


Directed by Tim Reid, Robin "The Lady of Rage" Allen (On Ten) stars in the titular role along with Shane Johnson (STARZ's Power) and Ian Bohen (Teen Wolf, Yellowstone). Daphne Maxwell Reid, Cocoa Brown, Dwayne Boyd, Towanda Braxton, Jaida Standberry, Marley Taylor, Amelia Young, Stevie Baggs Jr., and Leslie Black round out the ensemble cast.


Miss Cleo, the infamous television personality and actress known for her psychic tarot reading for millions of viewers, tuned in to the Psychic Readers Network needing her psychic abilities to foretell their futures. She reportedly generated up to $24 million monthly for the Psychic Readers Network via pay-per-minute commercials from 1997 to 2003.

According to the official synopsis, Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall picks up in the late '90s when single mom Youree Dell Harris finds herself desperate to take care of her family and takes a job at the Psychic Readers Network—only to become one of the network's most beloved personalities, Miss Cleo.


Fondly remembered for donning a colorful turban in a candlelit room, Miss Cleo dutifully listened to callers detailing the most intimate details of their lives. Miss Cleo ultimately became the face of the Psychic Readers Network, earning the trust and loyalty of those who called her. Her specific style and unique branding launched into the pop culture phenomenon, making her a cult icon, as the TV persona Miss Cleo, and ultimately becoming the face of the Psychic Readers Network. When the network faces allegations of fraud and deception, they turn their sights on Miss Cleo, and Youree is forced to defend her reputation, clear her name, and escape financial ruin.

The network promises that for the first time ever, Miss Cleo's side of the story will finally be told. Immediately following the movie's premiere, Lifetime will also premiere the documentary Call Me Miss Cleo, which will chronicle her rise, fall, and reinvention. The documentary explores the many layers behind the complicated and charismatic figure, featuring interviews with celebrities and those closest to her.
